FOR YOUR NEXT LAS VEGAS ADVENTURE… GET OFF THE STRIP…

THERE’S MORE TO LAS VEGAS THAN A STRIP

THERE’S THE ORLEANS HOTEL AND CASINO

The Orleans Hotel and Casino is a great family choice for your Las Vegas adventure. It has it all. To begin, the hotel offers 1,886 lovely and affordable oversized rooms (that are actually petite suites with separate sitting areas) and suites that say luxury and comfort. The rooms offer amazing views of the glittering Las Vegas Strip or gorgeous mountain panoramas of the Vegas Valley. The hotel has a gorgeous pool area, an 18 screen movie theater and a 70 lane bowling alley. You will never be bored at the Orleans.

Bowling

The Orleans Bowling Center is home to 70 lanes and offers a full complement of services.

One of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas is to catch some of the stellar shows presented at the Orleans Showroom! Upcoming shows are, the Oak Ridge Boys (Feb. 25-26…‘giddie up’), the Osmond’s (March 1-4), the Marshall Tucker Band (March 9-10) and Kenny Wayne Shepherd (March 17-18).

The Orleans cozy Showroom is an 850-seat theater that features top names in entertainment.  Below are some recent shows.

Dana Thomas Carvey

Feb. 3 and 4

Dana Carvey appeared at the Orleans Showroom on Feb 3-4 to ecstatic crowds who he captivated from the moment he set foot on the stage. Mr. Carvey, in my opinion, is one of America’s MOST legendary comedians and he was born June 2, 1955. Dana is an American actor, writer, stand-up comedian and a world-wide treasure. He is best known for his work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and for playing the role of Garth and the Church Lady! His humor is hysterical and clean cut as well. Some of Dana’s films you might remember him from are: Wayne’s World, Wayne’s World 2, Clean Slate, The Road to Wellville, Trapped in Paradise, The Shot, Little Nicky, The Master of Disguise, Presidential Reunion, and most recent ,Jack & Jill.

When Mr. Carvey throws in an F bomb it is well placed and truly adds to the joke at hand in comparison to other comics that just can’t think of a better word to say and flood there act with F bombs. He had the audience in the palm of his hand and I, for one, NEVER stopped laughing for a second. His humor is so brilliant, political yet defending neither political party, current, topical, entertaining and beyond funny. He does so many impressions and they are all DEAD ON perfect. Not only are the impressions stellar but he looks and acts like the characters with all their mannerisms with wildly funny comedy lines.  Dana’s talents also include comedy bits with Italian, Irish, British, Chinese and New York Mob accents as well as his own dad! He said things such as: “I am so sick of all the prank calls I get. It is such a pain, you get them too right? I hate those calls. Well, I call them prank calls, others call them creditors.  And…

I know what all you ladies are looking for…You want a guy with a wash board stomach, kind gentle and sensitive. I get it…but ladies you can’t have that guy…that guy has a boyfriend….”

Towards the end, Dana skillfully plays his guitar adding comedy songs like only he can!

Dana is just so likeable with his boyish looks and sweet charms with the audience.  His comedy offends no one and that is why he had the crowd at hello…I feel that Dana should have his own talk show. He is so clever and quick witted. With all his many impressions the show would never be dull. Love, love, love Dana’s show and judging by the audience they begged for more and didn’t want him to leave the stage. Bravo Dana. A+!!!!

The list below states just some of his impressions and the ones underlined are just some the ones he performed luminously at the Orleans Showroom.

Celebrity impersonations:    Groucho Marx, Ronald Regan, John McCain, Keanu Reeves, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Norm McDonald, Andy Rooney, John McLaughlin, Mickey Rooney, George Michael, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Peter North, Garry Shandling, Dennis Miller, James Stewart, Richard Nixon, Sting, President Barack Obama, Strom Thurmond, Suze Orman, John Travolta, Al Pacino, Donald Trump, Robert De Niro, Ron Paul, Ross Perot, Mike Tyson, Rick Perry, Abe Vigoda, Regis Philbin, George F. Will, Pol Pot, Robin Williams, Dan Quayle, Neil Young and Frank Zappa.

STEVEN WRIGHT

Steven Alexander Wright (born December 6, 1955) is an American comedian, actor and writer. His OUT OF THE BOX, RANDOM, BIZZAR, INTELLEGENT, SURREAL, HUMOR AND COMEDIC STYLE IS WHAT MAKES THIS COMIC SO VERY UNIQUE AND SPECIAL!

Mr. Wright performed his act at the Orleans Showroom on January 20-21to a sold out and totally thrilled audience. The audience never knows where he is going and how far and long he will travel there.

I personally don’t know how he possibly memorizes his hour and a half show (no opening act) of ironic, philosophical, nonsensical comedy with sometimes contrived situations. Nothing connects from one joke to another. His comedy is so very funny but yet profound and smart as well. He stands there doing about 1000 one-liners. Steven is remarkable, quite talented and delivers his act at all times using his distinctive, lethargic voice with his slow DEADPAN, delivery. His observational comedy is so very interesting to listen to and the audience was listening hard, as you really have to pay attention to get Steven’s humor completely.

You might have seen Steven in Desperately Seeking Susan, So I Married an Axe Murderer , Mixed Nuts, The Larry Sanders Show, Half Baked Babe,  Pig in the City, One Soldier, The Muse, Loser , Coffee and Cigarettes and The Aristocrats.

Some of Mr. Wright’s legendary quotes are:

“I have two very rare photographs.
One is a picture of Houdini locking his keys in his car.
The other is a rare photograph of Norman Rockwell beating up a child”

“What's another word for Thesaurus?”

“You can't have everything. Where would you put it?”

“I got food poisoning today. I don't know when I'll use it”

“A cop stopped me for speeding. He said, "Why were you going so fast?" I said, "See this thing my foot is on? It's called an accelerator. When you push down on it, it sends more gas to the engine. The whole car just takes right off. And see this thing? This steers it"

“I hate it when my foot falls asleep during the day because that means it's going to be up all night”.

“My girlfriend does her nails with white-out. When she's asleep, I go over there and write misspelled words on them”

“I spilled spot remover on my dog. He's gone now”

Steven Wright completely wowed the crowd and well deserved his long standing O at the end. You rocked it Stevie!!!

Bob" Saget

Bob, born May 17, 1956 is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and television host. Although he is best known for his roles as Danny Tanner in Full House, host of America's Funniest Home Videos and future Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. Saget, is also, known outside of television for his blue stand-up routine.

Bob performed his no holds barred blue comedy standup show on March 27-28 at the Orleans Showroom.  He played his guitar and stunned the audience over and over with whatever outlandish thing came out of his funnyman mouth. He had a tremendous tit for tat exchange with the audience.

Bob’s OPENING ACT FRAZER SMITH was a riot. He will be performing at Big Al’s Comedy Club in the hotel Feb 22-26. Don’t miss him. Also, coming, is Mark Weitz the “The Alien Warrior Comedian”.

Do try to catch the new show “The Fab” at the Orleans from Feb. 2-23… in the Brendan’s Irish Pub…
